Widget Areas (Sidebars)

The available widget areas in Mai Theme.

Mai Theme uses Content Areas for most global content areas, but since users are still comfortable with widgets for sidebars, we left the standard “Sidebar” widget area in place.

If you want to conditionally hide/show widgets, we recommend using a plugin like Widget Options or Restrict Widgets.

How To Edit Sidebars / Widget Areas

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets.
  2. Choose a widget and add or drag it into a widget area.
  3. Configure and Save.

How To Use Blocks in Widget Areas

Mai Theme exposes the Reusable Blocks UI in the admin sidebar. You can view, add, or edit reusable blocks in Dashboard > Reusable Blocks.

Follow these steps to use blocks in any widget area.

  1. Navigate to Dashboard > Reusable Blocks.
  2. Click “Add New” near the top.
  3. Create your content with any available blocks.
  4. Publish/Save.
  5. Navigation to Dashboard > Appearance > Customize.
  6. Find the “Mai Reusable Block” widget and add it to any widget area.
